Whats on your mind for next years plans? A new car? Changing ISP? A 10 day trek up high in the Himalayan mountains?
Sam Hill, a Software Developer and Futurologist over at Namesco (formally of NDO) is planning on doing the latter to help both raise awareness of and sponsorship funds to ActionAid. Sam's trip up the Himalayan mountains starts 13th March 2006.
For those that wish to sponsor, the following shows how huge differences can be made, often with not so huge amounts of money.
- 15 pounds would buy three basic HIV medical kits.
- 80 pounds would feed a child in a shelter in India for a year.
- 100 pounds could run a medical centre for 5 days - treating over 100 people in Gujarat.
- 250 pounds would pay the annual salary of a teacher in an access centre in Ethiopia.
You can find out a little more about this arduous task and the opportunity to sponsor Sam over at SamGoesWalkies.com.
We at Bug wish Sam the very best, and hope he raises lots of sponsorship for a very worthy cause.
Note : As of writing, Sam currently has sponsorship for around 75% of his £3,000 target.
