BSkyB sends out jitters

With BSkyB planning to announce it's broadband plans
tomorrow it
seems that it was but a few jitters among some in the industry.
One of it's major rivals will be The Carphone Warehouse who believe that the
company is likely to offer free broadband to subscribers who pay for premium
services such as Sky+ personal recorders, high definition TV and sports or movie
packages.
"Sky are a threat, because when we started this we did not make any
money out of broadband....
....So we really didn't care how much we messed up. Nor do they. So they
have that same kind of reckless streak" |
| Charles Dunstone, CEO executive of the Carphone Warehouse |
Dunstone expects that this will drive the price of broadband and phone
bundles plummet as a result of the announcement, not a good sign as he has said
that his company expects to make £50m losses in its broadband business this
year, due to offering 'free broadband'.
