Adios emails

Ever since an engineer accidentally deleted PlusNet users emails on July 9th
it has been touch and go whether they would be able to get them back.
And finally they have admitted they are gone forever, all 700GB of them,
which is quite a few emails! PlusNet claim that 50 percent of them were spam
anyway, which doesn't say much for the ISP's spam filters, and 48 percent had
been read.
That isn't much consolation to users who just use webmail or more seriously
businesses which use IMAP to leave messages on the server.
"I would like to take this opportunity to once again extend our
sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused by the loss of any
customer emails and in particular the unread emails."
"This has been taken very seriously within PlusNet. An extensive
analysis of how this happened has been carried out and working
practices implemented to prevent it happening again." |
| Alistair Wyse PlusNet technical director |
How to stop it happening again? Quite simple really.........backup before
fiddling!!
