Virgin Media has taken increased the number of users who can take advantage of it's services, even if you live outside a cabled area.

It has signed a deal with Cable & Wireless to use the telecos network to provide services via ADSL rather than through cable. This will add 4 million potential new users across the UK, as Virgins cable only reaches around half of the UK population.

"Cable & Wireless' excellent service and technology will allow us to offer enhanced broadband and home phone services to an additional four million customers. It also lays a foundation for us to provide our unique quadplay services to the 50 per cent of households outside our cable network."
Neil Berkett, Chief Operating Officer, Virgin Media
