The latest takeover rumours are that Virgin Media has held informal talks with a potential buyer for the telco with figures of £4bn being suggested.

Virgin Media itself only launched earlier this year after a merger of cable providers NTL and Telewest and telecoms firm Virgin Mobile last year, and it's suggested that it's being eyed up by investment bankers.

No doubt more will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
