UK ISP NDO have dealt a blow to the booming broadband market in the UK with the announcement of a totally unrestricted 512k package for under £20. Whats more, they've also announced that a new 1Mb package is now under £30 including VAT.
The two new packages, "Home500 Upfront" and "Home1000 Upfront" contain no restriction on usage of neither time nor data, provides webspace, an email address. In both cases the term is a rolling 1 month contract. Both packages do come with a £65 activiation fee - in exchange for the lower monthly cost compared to the ISPs other packages on offer.
Based on subscribers who would pay monthly (which we would estimate would be the majority), over a year, the Home500 UpFront package costs an additional £5 extra using "Home500 Upfront" at £304.88 compared to NDOs "Home500 Standard" (at £299.88), due to the activation fee.
Again, using the "pay monthly" option, Home1000 UpFront however, goes the otherway around costing £6 less over the year (£424.88 against £430.88) than NDOs existing Home1000 Standard, though this is mainly due to NDOs retaining a £35 setup charge on the 1Mb product.
A unique point with NDO is the ability to pay monthly, quarterly, or even yearly in advance, thus realising further discounting.
