UK Broadband Usergroup FAQs (frequently-asked questions)
Category: Main -> Forum FAQ -> Usenet Syncronisation QuestionAnswerWhat is the 'Usenet Syncronisation' ?The usenet syncronisation section within the forum provides a web based interfaced to many of the popular usenet based newsgroups.
Currently the service is in Beta, removing all posting rights from non authorised UK-Bug members. Pretty soon, the service will go into Release Candidate1, where applications can be made for posting rights to various supported newsgroups. Back to top
Why can I not make posts or respond to posts within group 'xxxx' ?At present, due to the service being provisionally Beta, posting rights have been removed for all whilst the integrity of the service is established.
As soon as the service becomes RC1 (Release Candidate 1) posting rights will be assigned on an application basis only. Back to top
I cannot see 'xxxx' newsgroup. Can you add it please ?Maybe. Data syncronisation costs us money - something which we are not ashamed to say we dont have alot of.
Syncronisation between our usenet sync facility and external newsgroups is considered on an individual basis. Please contact 'usenet@uk-bug.net' with your request and we will look into it.
The obvious previso for adding a newsgroup at this stage, would be that the newsgroup carries a very heavy bias towards broadband discussion and its associated technologies. Back to top
The times that the syncronisations takes place seems random. Why ?At present, during the Beta phase of the test, syncronisation is done manually. This ensures that we are able to monitor the syncronisation between our webservers, and our our newsservers.
At times there maybe no syncronisation taking place during the Beta phase. Please remember this when using the service.
When the service launches properly, the syncronisation will become automatically done every 30 minutes - with a possible view to this value being decreased. Back to top
