Bulldog has begun technical trials of an 8Mb ADSL service which it expects to make available to customers early next year.
The 8Mb trial is scheduled to run for the next few months and i the technical results are acceptable it will be made available on the Bulldog core central London network in early 2004.
The service is aimed at corporate business and will be configured to provide line rates of up to 8Mbps downstream and up to 400Kb upstream at a 20:1 contention ratio.
Chief technology officer for Bulldog, Gavin Young said: "We are seeing how far we can push the technical boundaries of current ADSL technology.
"The 8Mbps service trial will provide valuable knowledge and understanding of the technicalities involved in the delivery of high bit-rate services as we evolve our systems to the next-generation ADSL2 and ADSL2+ technologies coming next year."
This will provide Bulldog with an equal product to the other LLU provider Easynet, who already have an 8Mb service.
Nice if you live in London.....
