Plusnet's 'dslConnect' offering, which has previously been in trial, has launched today. The service has launched with 150k, 200k & 250k offerings starting from £15.99. All the services are offered via partnership deal with Tiscali, and are implemented via the wholesalers DataStream network.
Prices for the services stand at £15.99 for the "dslConnect 3x faster" (150k) provision, £16.99 for the "dslConnect 4x faster" (200k), rising up to £17.99 for the "dslConnect 5x faster" (250k) product (all prices inclusive of VAT). All three products have been launched with a discounted rate activation charge of just £30 - a discount intself of over 50%. Add to this the included USB Modem, and a 3-month free trial of the ISPs anti-spam/virus technologies, and it's clear that Plusnet are confident in the products penetration range.
Interestingly, back in December when Plusnet originally announced details of the dslConnect range, we noted how the ISP purposefully chose not to classify the product as 'broadband' despite history showing [the then] Oftel approval of 150k based products being included in the 'broadband' range. However, in this most recent press release, it seems that PlusNet have chose fit to demystify any possible confusion, and finally classify the offerings as broadband. Quite if this is intentional, remains to be seen.

Our approach is to take the best in class wholesale access and deliver innovative new products for our customers. Launching consumer products based on DataStream allows us to offer our customers even more broadband choice. dslConnect represents great value for people who want the benefits of high-speed Internet access at the same price as they are currently paying for dial access, with the added benefit of the quality of support that PlusNet are well known for
