Starbucks have announced that they are planning to double their UK Wi-Fi
Hotspot
capacity over the next few months.
Wireless broadband networks are currently being installed in a further 98
Starbucks outlets. This will take the total number of Wi-Fi enabled stores in
the UK to 154. This is the third rollout, the previous was in June 2003, and
took the total to 56 stores.
| "While we have not disclosed specific numbers we can say that there
has been a strong customer response to the T-Mobile HotSpot service in
our stores," "Our customers appreciate the flexibility that the
service gives them, whether they are using it to download corporate
files and presentations, or surfing the Internet for fun." |

The current pricing scheme in the UK for the company's
time-limited passes are £5, £10 and £16.50 for one, three and 24 hours' access
time. Although this seems a tad on the expensive side, compared to connecting
via a GPRS enabled phone it is very reasonable.
A full list of Wi-Fi enabled outlets is available from
Starbucks web site.
