Plusnet have announce a new
Broadband Home range of products which have pushed broadband costs even
lower.
Rather than following the trend of some ISP's and reducing the connection speed
they have gone for a 'full fat' connection with speeds ranging from 512kbps to
2Mbps
| 512kbps connection |
£14.99 per month |
| 1Mbps |
£23.99 |
| 2Mb |
£31.99 |
Included is the usual PHP, MySQL (etc) webspace, backup local rate dialup and
static IP on request. Hardware is available, if needed, ranging for a USB modem to
router.
Activation isn't free as some ISP's, it ranges between £58.75 for the annual
contract and £70.50 for the monthly, although it can be paid at £5.50 a month
over the year, making a total of £74.99.
One downside is metered bandwidth, 1GB on the 512kbps, 2GB on 1Mbps and 4GB
on the 2Mbps connection, although extra can be purchased at £1.50 per extra
gigabyte.
Hopefully this is 'the start of the end' for the recent reduced speed
'broadband' offerings.

It looks like PlusNet have changed their packaging. The regular prices (as listed) come with x Gb per month. You can however opt for Premier for £7 (512), £6 (1mb) or £8 (2Mb) per month extra aand with various extra download levels per month.
