No not the C4 programme.....but BT have announced their latest innovation which it claims, that rather than spying on customers, it's actually for their benefit.

ISP-I (somehow pronounced "Eye Spy") will allow BT to monitor it's ADSL broadband and dial-up narrowband services from five geographic locations around the UK using the ISP-I software provided by Purple Sun.
But as well as BT's own customers it will be able to emulate other ISP's registered to the software company, which is at present over 250 home and business ISP services in the UK.

The system monitors ADSL, SDSL, cable modem, dial-up narrowband and wireless Internet connections and provides a variety of key detailed statistics, which can help ISP's provide real time network data analysis.

"Purple Sun will provide us with an additional independent real-time view of the performance data on dial-up Narrowband and Broadband services. ISP-I will help our operations team to monitor our services allowing us to easily identify changes in performance from a customer perspective. Also, the flexible graphical interface provided by ISP-I allows long term trends to be tracked."
