Security - Firewall Config - Specified external IP access? Si - Aug 15, 2005 - 03:36 PM Post subject: Firewall Config - Specified external IP access?
Hi!
I am currently running the 6.2 firmware version on my 1 meg booted 5861 router and so far it seems to be running really well (well better than the previous versions anyway!).
I am trying to fine tune my firewall script and am currently having problems with ftp which I'm sure I will sort out soon. Anyway, my reason for posting is that I am trying to work out if there is a way to specify access only from a specific external IP address for a particular service: eg remote desktop (port 3389) since I would like to restrict RD access from my place of work. I would also be intrested to know if it is possible to set multiple restricted IP addresses for a particular service too - Does any one know if this possible with the 5861 routers?
Many thanks!
Si.

Yes it's easy, just set your rules so that the source IP is that of your work. Then anything else on that port will be dropped.
