Post subject: bt voyager 205 port forwarding

i'm trying to set up apache on my computer. i type my ip address into the address bar but all i get is the bt voyager 205 configuration page. do i need to do port forwarding? don't post links to corz.org or portforward.com as i have tried them and they don't work. my isp is bt, do they perhaps block icoming requests to port 80?

Hi,

Are you typing your internal ip address or the ip address bt have allocated (dynamically) to your connection?
You may need to edit your hosts file if running Win2K or WinXP to allow you to connect to the web server pages from your PC.

i can access them from my computer or other computers on my network.
my computers ip is something like 192.168.1.(not sure if its a five on the end).
its just when i type my ip address into a web browser, it just displays my bt voyager configuration page.

Hi,

Maybe you are typing the wrong ip address - or is your voyager open to the world for anyone to log into.
Open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all and check your pc and external ip addresses and see..

can you try typing 81.157.247.122:8080 into your web browser to see what you get?

is it possible that BT stop incoming requests to stop poeple running their own servers?

i'm going on holiday tonight so will be turning off my computer later. (as there will be no need to keep it on)

i am using the ethernet port.

i've tried it all, thanks anyway. i think i'll just change ISP to one which says you can run your own server and buy a proper router.

bought a linksys AG241 router, connected that up and my site works fine now.
