Hi,

Just a general plea for info.

Anyone know where I can get a cheap copy of Windows XP Pro and Windows 2K Pro.

Lost my copies and am still having issues with what I installed so would like to move back to original CD installs . .

Thanks,

Des. . . Wink

Well,

Maybe it is the RAM installed - faulty?

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT is caused by faulty memory?!?!?

Further investigation required. . .

Hi,

Yea, I think I have seen this one (but thanks for the link Razz ) and have changed all drivers to original supplied etc.

I have run RAM tests which came up with errors to Module 2.
But the testing both individually in slot 1 brough no errors. . .
Testing both individually in slot 3 though again brings errors for Module 2.
So, with both modules in (swopped) I again get errors but for Module 1 (now in slot 3 where Module 2 used to be)
So I suspect a bit more behind this. MoBo???

Gawd. . . Drives me up the wall!

Crazy

It is more likely to be your RAM at fault. Not all errors manifest simply as "this particular stick of RAM has a fault". Until you can test different RAM, you're not going to be able to track the fault.

This is the point in the thread where I mention anti-static precautions when handling RAM. If you don't take precautions, your RAM will not live as long as it should. You will get errors very similar to the one you describe. Static discharge causes cumulative damage to sensitive components (video cards, CPU's, RAM). Each time you handle a component without taking precautions, you add to the damage. At some point, the component will fail completely.
