Eclipse Internet declares ‘war’ on spammers with free SPAMshield
Eclipse Internet, 23 February 2005: Award-winning innovative broadband provider Eclipse Internet has declared ‘war’ on the ‘spammers’ of the world by introducing a new anti-spam protection feature - SPAMshield – which is free to all Eclipse broadband and dial-up customers. SPAMshield is a significant step towards protecting Eclipse customers from spam, the electronic equivalent of ‘junk’ mail, which is increasingly blighting the Inboxes of Internet users with around 17 billion unsolicited emails sent in 2004.*
This new service will significantly reduce the level of spam that Eclipse customers receive. Users can adjust spam-protection levels (Safe, Moderate or Aggressive) using simple online control settings. A more advanced option – which is also free – allows customers to set their own custom levels and to set up ‘allow’ and ‘block’ filtering for email addresses and domain names.
Mark Lang, founder of Eclipse Internet and Director of Broadband and ISP Development at Kingston Communications, said: “Our aim is to give our customers the best possible Internet experience and shield them from the dark side of the Internet. SPAMshield will clean up customer Inboxes and protect both family and employees from unwanted emails. The most powerful benefits for parents are the increased security and parental controls which ensures that children only communicate with parent-approved contacts.
Lang concluded, “With no need for additional software, SPAMshield is totally hassle-free. SPAMshield significantly reduces the amount of time spent dealing with unwanted emails and ensures that customer’s Inboxes just contain the emails they want. The combination of SPAMshield and our new 2Mbps Home Broadband product represent an incredible value-for-money combination at just £14.99 per month.”
SPAMshield is the second service to be incorporated into Eclipse Internet’s ‘shield’ suite. In January 2004, Eclipse introduced VIRUSshield – a free service to protect Eclipse customers from the huge increase in email-borne viruses. Since its introduction VIRUSshield has stopped over 7.6 million viruses. The database of known viruses is updated daily and now stands at over 67 thousand. Both VIRUSshield and SPAMshield check over 3 million messages every day.
The majority of new customers are recommended to Eclipse by experienced Internet users, establishing Eclipse as the service provider of choice by those ‘in the know’. This reputation has been built on the highest levels of customer service, reliability and speed within the broadband market.
