Bulldog Communications, the UK market innovator in broadband and telephony services and pioneer of LLU (Local Loop Unbundling), today announced the launch of its 8 meg broadband service to almost a third of homes across the UK.

This pioneering service is a first for the UK market: 8 meg internet access, no download caps, a selection of price plans and telephone services to suit a range of customer needs. It also demonstrates Bulldog’s continuing commitment to change the UK broadband industry, by making superfast broadband truly affordable to a mass market.

New customers will be able to buy the 8 meg service for the price of the current 4 meg service, starting from just £15.50 per month. So that customers can try 8 meg broadband and experience the true richness of the online world, Bulldog is offering the first month’s broadband service for only £1. This includes a free modem and is for customers signing up by June 15 th 2005. Existing Bulldog customers will automatically get a free upgrade to up to 8 meg.

The company is also powering ahead to claim an even bigger share of the UK broadband industry. Recently announced plans include doubling coverage, from 400 to 800 telephone exchanges.

Bulldog CEO Emanuele Angelidis said, "The launch of our 8 meg service is another example of market-leading innovation from Bulldog. We’re once more redefining the boundaries of the broadband market."

"8 meg from Bulldog, with no download caps, gives customers the freedom to use the internet as they wish. Thanks to the enhanced speed, people will have a really high quality experience, whether browsing, downloading DVDs, music or photos, as well as swapping large files."

"As well as catering for the user who’s online most of the time, we also have Top Up packages for the light internet user or the cost-conscious as well as packages which include unlimited UK calls for those who spend a lot of time on the phone."

"These kinds of services are just examples of what we plan to do going forward. Differentiation based on innovation is the only way to create value in the market and to give our customers what they want. We can do this because we have a future-proof network based on our LLU infrastructure. This physically connects us with our customers and enables us to fulfil a broad range of their needs - through internet access, telephony and many more value-added services in the near future."
