Post subject: port blocking ..... ish  PostPosted: Dec 26, 2005 - 11:48 AM

I use one of my PCs for P2P filesharing Wink , you may be aware that WinMX has had its Cahce Servers closed down and since September 05 has been struggling to survive.

However, it has survived, is recovering, and is combating some file flooding tactics from various global corporations. The way the file flooding is taken care of is by blocking requests from certain IP addresses, as they send flood files, they are added to a list daily, and this list is applied to the blocking software, PeerGuardian 2. The blocking list at the moment consists of some 600 million IP adresses, I jest thee not. Shocked

It all works fine for me, but I was wondering, is the 5861 or 5830 capable of being configured to accept a list of IPs to block Question

Yes, tis a lot isn`t it, and thanks for the answer.

The companies perpetrating the flooding, Sony, Warner, and hrumph btcentralplus obviously have lots of phone lines doing not a lot.

PeerGuardian 2 is the saviour for WinMX at the moment, but things will improve vastly when the new user Cache Servers come on line, see you in cyberspace Mr Sony Very Happy
