Hi,
Yesterday my 5830 AC adapter burnt out - after plugging it in I could smell that nasty burnt electical smell coming from it and stopped working
I have had a look on ebay and took it into maplins but could not find any replacement adapters that would work with it. Does anyone know where I can get one from?
My current adapter has four pins and is marked:-
Model: HKA-A15110BS
Pri. : 230V~50Hz 100mA
SEC. : 15V~1100mA 16.5VA
I purchased my 5830 off ebay quite a while ago and the above adatper came with it so I am assuming it was the correct origional one. On the 5830 unit itself, the input is specified as:-
15V~
0.8A MAX
If anyone can help me to find a replacement adapter I would be really greatful as I would really like to get this modem back working again!
Many thanks,
-Si. |

I had the same problem a couple of years ago when the power unit on my 5830 went phut after only couple of hours. Eusty is right about Farnell's - I got a replacement from them. But, of course, you'll need to cobble the existing 4-pin plug to the new adapter. Might mean taking the 5830 apart to see what is connected where, but I seem to remember that the two right-hand pins are shorted together as are the two left-hand ones. But I can't remember exactly!

Apolagies for not getting back sooner on this - After P&P the power lead from Farnell was going to cost around £20 - I had a look on ebay and managed to bag myself a couple of 5830 routers with their power supply for around £6 each - hopefully the two power supplies have a bit of life left in them yet, if not then I will try the Farnell one.
Many thanks for your help though! |
