After i tried to upgrade my efficient 5861 from version 5xxx to 6xxx he died.

After powering up the test and link leds are flashing.

The TFTP boot option is dead also.

on the console the 5861 hangs after RAM TEST Ok.

Is there stil hope?

When you say tftp boot option dead, is this via the bootp method by holding in reset button when turning on?

Yes. The 5861 now hangs with a cecksum error on the flash memory so ive burried him.

Ive replaced the 5861 for a SB5830 great machine has the fastest connection on my 6,3Km line with the CO of al other modems i tryed before.
Only the good old portmonitor (installed with the tools for the 5861) has worked only one time on the 5830 so it can work. The message lines shows this responce: SNMPD: No Security Acces for Set from 192.168.1.10.

I also activated QOS to manage my (upstream) Viop router. Its much better but not perfect. My Camera videoserver has low priority 1% weight and the Viop router High priority 95% Weight. using DiffServ makes no difference.

The sb5830 is a better router than 5861.

You have the permissions set wrong for SNMP, hence not port monitor. Port monitor is a bit basic, I tend to use MTRG instead.

How can i set the permissions right?
My SNMP settings are:

SNMP CONFIGURATION INFORMATION
Community name....................... public
Password............................. admin
Write Community name................. public
Trap Community name.................. null
Port................................. default (161)
Trap Port............................ default (162)
IF Enabled........................... LAN only
Clients.............................. LAN
Global Trap Enable................... off
Configured Trap Destinations......... 192.168.1.10
Global Use Management IP Address..... off

thanks.

What is LAN IP of router - in same range as SNMP probe?

Hmmm...

Can you try other SNMP tools, see if they work OK, might be something odd with Port Monitor.
