Well, nothing like getting the forum off to a good start. . . .
But instead, I shall post something.! ! !
Windows Explorer in WinXP, when you can find it as Micro$haft have hidden it away in the menus! ! ! ordinarily comes up WITHOUT the Bottom Status bar. . . You have to go to "View - Status Bar" to turn it on.
Sometime it will stay there for your session in windoze . . But not always. Re-boot and you will again have to turn it on . ..
I have looked through the registry but couldn't find anything remotely like "Satus Bar"..
What I would like to know is - how do I keep the Status Bar turned on . . ? ? ?
Welcome back and cheers all . . . |

A known defect, that I thought was resolved in SP1 for XP (do you have this installed ?). To resolve ...
With (only one) IE open, click View and select: Status Bar.
Hold down the Ctrl key and click the close button (upper right).
Open Windows Explorer, click View and select: Status Bar
Click Tools > Folder Options > View tab
Click the "Apply to all folders" button. |

I would never have guessed that would be your answer (he says using Opera to write his response ) |

I do have SP1 installed on this . . and have done as per your instructions . . Lets see how long it lasts . . )
Opera? I never really got into Opera as I didnt like the feel of it . . Much prefered Netscape . .
I have now, and am using to post this, Mozilla 1.5 . . . Just like Netscape . .
But then it would be, as netscape is now based on the core or Mozilla
Thanks again Andy . . .
(BTW - It was Windows explorer and not Internet explorer that was having this"undocumented feature" ) |
