ISP PlusNet has matched the price of TalkTalk's 'free broadband' deal with an
offering of to 8Mbps broadband, landline rental and calls for £20.99 a month.
They are not the first to follow TalkTalks lead, Biscit announced a similar
deal last week
and it looks like more will follow, even after the adverse publicity surrounding
the use of the word
free.
While being touted as 'free broadband' the entry level package only has a
monthly usage limit of 50MB with more available at 0.224p a MB, not great for
downloading! And while expounding the benefit of only a one month contract what they fail to say
is that the
FAQ's state that there is an admin fee of £20 when you decide to leave.
| It's quickly becoming standard for broadband and telephone service to
be bundled together, but a major barrier to take up has been poor
nationwide coverage and off-putting long term contracts. |
| Neil Armstrong, PlusNet marketing director |
As usual it's just adding more confusion to the already confused world of
broadband packages.
