The myth of free broadband
Posted by: AndyJenkins on Thursday, September 21, 2006 - 09:50 AM
ISP's [General]

"Free broadband" is something that's been touted by a few ISPs for a while now. But how many of them actually give you broadband, if you give them nothing in return ?

Free-Online, a brand run by PlusNet has launched a nice little dig at their rivals through a minisite which aims to "dispels the fairytale myth of ‘free’ broadband. Forever." Of course, the marketing has the idea of promoting Free-Online's own service, but the message conveyed is clear - how does paying £30 a month to a company, equal getting free broadband?

By contrast, visitors to http://www.free-online.net/ should not be fooled into thinking that Free-Online offer free broadband either as the irony is that Free-Online’s broadband is not free – it's priced similary to as other providers.
