Customers in the UK are paying too much for broadband services, according to
a new report by uSwitch.
It claims that the 10 million or so broadband customers in the UK are wasting
a total of £621m a year but not choosing a better deal when their fixed length
contracts end.
"We are dismayed at the amount that people are overpaying... NTL, for
example, was charging nearly £35 for a 1Mbps service back in 2002, but is
now offering up to 2Mbps broadband for £17.99. Despite this, three out of
four people are over-paying for their service, collectively wasting up to
£621m per year,""
The internet has become a way of life... [but] it's up to consumers to now
make sure that they are getting the best deal possible," |

It also found that Mr Average Internet User spends 33 days per year online
with 88 percent of the 14,969 respondents buying items over the internet on a
regular basis.
What uSwitch have failed to see is that a cheap broadband connection isn't
necessarily the best value for money, with lot's of other factors also involved
with choosing an ISP such as support, email and static IP issues.
