ISPA outlines ISPs duties

The Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) has published a new
report
which outlines the best practice for ISPs who are working with the police and
other official bodies.
One of the main points of the report is that it recommends that each ISP
should provide a 24-hour point of contact who can aid police when dealing with
ISP's customers, for example in investigations who are related to internet use.
Although these are only recommendations and not binding by law, most ISPs
(but not all)
adhere to the voluntary code of practises of the ISPA.
| "ISPA already has excellent relations with the Home Office,
Government officials and law enforcement agencies. This document
aims to strengthen these ties." |
| Jessica Hendrie-LiaƱo, the chair of the ISPA Council |
