LLU to get same protection as BT connections

Ofcom have extended their rules to give LLU customers the same protection to
those on BT connections.
This means that operators such as Be, Tiscali and AOL will now have to comply
with Ofcoms code of practice for marketing and sales activities which cover mis-selling
of both voice and broadband products.
Originally the rules, which were bough in May 2005 were to cover just a two
year period and fixed line (BT), but after public consultation this has been
extended and also now includes unbundled lines.
"We want competition and choice to continue to grow, and we want
consumers to benefit from these changes."
"Consumers need to be able to shop around with confidence. Extending these
rules and our enforcement activity will protect consumers from inappropriate
sales and marketing techniques." |
