Posted by: AndyJenkins on Saturday, February 28, 2004 - 03:37 PM
Hardware

Users of the Efficient Networks 5861 router that BT ships with some of its business ADSL packages will be pleased to see some new firmware released for device.

Version 6.0.173 the firmware, enhancements include:-

  • Full SPI firewall
  • QOS/TOS filtering
  • Can now access a NAT mapped server from LAN via WAN
  • SIP ALG support.
Plus an array of new CLI's too numerious to mention here.

Before you rush off, please understand the following warning :

This firmware is for the 2MB rapid secure models (060-5861-XX) and not the usual (ex-BT) 1MB (120-5861-003) models.

It can be made to run, but unless you are very familiar with bootP and the CLI commands it would be best to avoid this version!!

You have been warned !

You can download the new firmware, from our "Downloads" pages, here.

"that BT until recently shipped with many of its business ADSL packages"

As far as I am aware BT still do give this router out with the business engineer installed products?

So, does this mean that it can be made to run on the old BT supplied routers, or does it mean it can be made to run on the 2MB versions ?
