Security fixes on newly released products? Sound familiar?
The
recently released BT Communicator with Yahoo! Messenger will require
an required migration of customers using 'IM 6 with a BT Yahoo!' or 'BT
Communicator with Yahoo Messenger' to updated software.
This is to address an IM6 security bug relating to a recently discovered flaw
in PNG graphics files, specifically with the libpng library, which is used by BT
Communicator with Yahoo! Messenger to open certain images including Display
images, Avatar heads in the Messenger list, some chrome images and some skin
images.
This can allow the attacker to "execute arbitrary code on an affected system",
for those of you of a technical nature the details are on the
US-CERT website.
For most people this will just involve a trip to
http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and grab
the latest software.
