Customers leaving in droves in their plight to find an alternative (and more importantly, cheaper) broadband ISP? Whats an ISP to do ?
Well, as part of a 3 month trial, BTYahoo Broadband seem be offering those subscribers who decide to leave an upgrade to the ISPs 1Mbit product - for the same monthly price as they pay for a 512k connection.
Entitled "Anniversary Speed Regrade", existing subscribers who have been with BTYahoo for 10 months or more who (and this is important for all you lot who fancy just "trying it on") "genuinely" want to cease their BTYahoo Broadband service, could be offered an upgrade to 1Mbit - all for no more pennies that what is paid for a 512k service. Upon taking the regrade, there is a caveat (isn't there always ?) - there is a new 12 month contract in force.
BTYahoo are expecting over 2,000 customers during the 3 month trial period to declare their allegiance to the massive ISP - and take up the offer.

lol .. not a chance in hell. Everyone knows that BTYahoo are way too expensive and offer nothing that any other ISP offers (apart from a smaller bank balance that is).
Anyone know what percentage of their subscriber base this magical "2,000" is ? 10% ?

It's not just the connection speed. In August, BT announced that it was imposing a 15GB/month usage cap (previous the 'fair' usage guideline was 1GB/day). This is not the first time that BT have unilaterally moved the goals posts -- they pulled the same bait/switch techniques in the BTOpenworld dial-up days by imposing a 150 hour/month cap (previously 'unlimited'). Other providers (Zen, for example -- and I don't have any affiliation with them) consistantly rate much better then BT both in terms of network performance and customer service. I've moved both my wife's business and our home connections to Zen as a result and am very pleased...

For Pensioners that are getting a reduced rate of the original 512. Why are'nt we being considered for 1 Mbit. After all our £19.99 was supposed to be a payment for the £28.99 rate!?
