"get on with life" says BT chief

BT

Head of BT Group Ben Verwaayen, has told executives from rival companies to “get on with life” reports the Financial Times. His comments are in response from recent calls to end BT's monopoly and split the telco into smaller groups.

Instead of focusing on BT's motives those opposed to it's grip on the broadband market should listen, rather than question the telecommunications group's motives. As it waits for a response from the industry regulator, Ofcom, to its offer to restructure in an effort to prevent a break-up of the company, he said BT had changed to "become a service company that does interesting things".
Mr Verwaayen also spoke of BT as an "innovation company" which will exploit its £10bn investment in its 21st century network (21CN) to provide new and exciting services.

"I think Ofcom has done a lot to get the level of discussion going to a level of much more intelligent debate and I think we have done our share by accepting responsibility and then getting on with life. And my invitation to the rest of the industry is the same."
Ben Verwaayen, Head of BT Group

This is possibly a move to try to avoid the wrath of Oftel who have called for the break up if it fails to meet demands for "substantive behavioural and organisational changes", especially in it's unwillingness to give it's rivals equal access to its wholesale products.
