Glasgow is to become the first city in the UK to launch a 24-hour
internet-based television channel.
Glasgow.tv is being funded by Glasgow City Council in partnership with
broadband TV firm
Narrowstep and will start broadcasting on the 27th April.
It will feature a mix of video events from around the city, such as sporting
fixtures and festivals, and will offer VoD though a compatible browser such as IE or Mozilla.
| "Glasgow.tv is the perfect way to bring our city to life and
offer around the world a chance to see it first-hand"
"It acts as a good advertising tool, is state-of-the-art technology
and we are proud that we are the first city to do this." |
| Alex Mosson, Glasgow City Councillor |
A preview can be found
here, which streams
at over 700Kbps.

Glasgow isn't the first Uk City/town internet based television company. Domcaster.tv has been broadcasting for 18 months. The station features news, business issues and a lot more. This station is already operating and has real clips not previews.
