The recently much hyped launch of Glasgow.tv as the UK first municipal broadband tv station takes a hit as Doncaster, South Yorkshire has revealed that it has had a broadband tv station, www.doncaster.tv for the last 18 months.
The "station" has a mix of news, educational, festival events, and business video items. Doncaster.tv was started by video production company Fern Creative Media Ltd as a development site, and has now matured into an internet tv station that serves the local community.
The latest development on doncaster.tv is the inclusion of an female avatar presenter called 'spirit' on its opening page.

Glasgow.tv is in fact the World's first scheduled broadband TV channel. If you take a look at www.Glasgow.tv you will see that it is a TV channel complete with 24/7 schedule, archive video, video on demand and live events. Doncaster.tv is not a tv channel but a static website that has the ability to offer viewers clips. There is actually a very big difference between the technology that Glasgow.tv are using and what Doncaster.tv has to offer.
To give you more of an idea of how Narrowstep's broadband television channels operate, I suggest you take a look at www.narrowstep.com
