The UK has one again gained the recognition of being the country with the
greatest broadband growth according to new data released by UK analysis firm
TopicPoint.
Worldwide there are now over 164 million broadband connection with the
greatest number being in countries which are usually regarded as broadband
leaders. The UK however achieved the greatest gain of 16.5% between Q4 2004 and
Q2 2005, with only France the only other G7 country obtaining over 10% growth.
This means that there are over 1 million more broadband connections in the UK
since the end of last year.

The UK still has a long way to catch up with South Korea, the
worlds most saturated broadband market, it attained a figure of 25 lines per 100
population, the first country to do so.
While the UK broadband market is on the rise, caution is needed
to ensure we don't lose in the next race to provide faster broadband
connections, many countries are either trialling of have in place far faster
connections than we see in the UK.
