Plusnet terminates ADSL services for asking too many questions
Posted by: AndyJenkins on Thursday, August 25, 2005 - 08:09 AM
PlusNet

Plusnet are to terminate the ADSL accounts of two of its subscribes, in what the ISP cites as a reaction to the subscribers "unsustainable level of attention [from Plusnet support], which was impacting [Plusnet's] ability to address other customers's feedback".

The apparent far from knee-jerk reaction comes as a result of the users belief that some of Plusnets subscribers could save money by changing from one Plusnet product to another, with no change in service received. However, the crux of this story is not so much the potential money saving opportunity, but the manner in which subscribers accounts are to be axed for simple "asking too many questions".

The user community on Plusnet's own discussion forums contains a mixed bag of reactions anger, pleasure, in indifference. Indeed, one contributor put it "Why don't you ... and other disgruntled users just go to another ISP? At the end of the day it is only net access and not the end of the world. ". Wise words indeed.

There is a growing show of hands for the "victims" here as well, with discussion moderators resigning in protest and an online petition. Setup to help voice the anger of the frustrated the petition was nearing 200 signatures as of this morning.
