Eclipse Internet was the star of the show last night at the Internet Service
Provider's Association (ISPA) awards.
Eclipse were praised after winning the Best Consumer Broadband category
partly due to it's 'zero-touch' automated order processing service and rapid
delivery of services, the judges were "were impressed with Eclipse's... rapid
delivery of its broadband services. Of particular note were Eclipse's efforts to
provide uncapped broadband,"
Another ISP praised was Be, who only yesterday
announced
it's 500th exchange unbundled, "for pushing the limits of broadband capabilities
in a consumer market by being bold and offering up to 24Mbps broadband."
The ever popular awards for the Heroes and Villains of the internet went to
Vodafone's Annie Mullins "for her work with the Home Office Task Force on
Protection of Children on the internet and the European Union's Safer Internet
Programme." and the villain was EU and European Commissioner Vivianne
Reading, "for foisting the most arcane set of rules yet seen for prior
registration of .eu domains,".
A full list of the winners and losers is at the
ISPA website. More next year.....

If we go missing then it's not for good!!
We are going to move to a new server so there maybe some downtime, but we'll try to keep it to a minimum.
It maybe a while until some ISP's DNS records catch up with the move though.

Over the last few days we've received a few requests for our news to be syndicated via Yahoo's new 'RSS Headlines' facility. Well, as always, we're only too pleased to help.
Registered users of My Yahoo and BTYahoo subscribers, who are automatically registered with MyYahoo (just use your normal BTYahoo user id and password) can now opt to see UK-Bugs' latest news articles on their My Yahoo homepage - pretty cool eh? Just dont forget to visit the site every now agan again though eh? We dont want you missing out on anything ;o)
To make the addition, we've made the process as simple as possible - just click on our 'add to MyYahoo' link in our "Affiliates" box (down there, on the left), or click here and agree to the addition to your Yahoo profile. Now you can enjoy all the latest from Bug as well as reading all the other great content from Yahoo's other premium news suppliers.

Ok we are on a new server now :)
Please bear with us while we sort things out, the software on the new server has been updated, so things may look a bit different for a time.
Also some bits may not work!!
Hopefully things will be back to normal soon....

Well according to our poll, you lot out there either don't know about our
downloads section (hint: click the link!), or you think it needs to be kept
up to date.
This is your chance!! The section will now be open for even non-registered
users to upload files.
Just click the 'add download' link on the page, and this will allow you upload a
file to our server. This will then be checked by us for suitability, virus
checked, and if appropriate accepted.
Please remember not to post any copyrighted material/cracks/keygens/junk etc
At the moment we are concentrating on firmware, drivers and things which help
broadband users in particular.

A big 'well done' to the winner of our Hi-Velocity/ Zyxel competition last month.
Brett from South Lambeth thought bug's birthday present should be "a copy of Full Circle by Micheal Palin Because it must be boring stuck up in the top left corner all day".
Well done to Brett who gets the goodies... a years 1Mbit ADSL from Hi-Velocity, a Zyxel P653HWi, and a nosh up at the OxO Tower !
Hopefully we may get some photos, it all depends on bringing a camera, and not drinking too much....so don't hold your hopes!!

We've decided to open up the ability for our readership to post comments on stories that appear on Bug - such that no registration is required as was previously the case.
To post a comment - either click on the "Comments?" link at the bottom right of each story on our homepage, or when viewing the story direct - simply hit the "Post Comment" button. The ability to post comments, is not a direct replacement for our forum - but rather to compliment, and provide immidiate visability to comments for a specific story.
The trial will initially last for 1 month - so please do not abuse it - and do not spam. Posts will be vigorously checked, and although we will try to not censor, posts maybe edited / deleted as appropriate.

Sorry if you noticed that bug was more like a snail today.
Our hosts suffered a DDOS attack this morning which affected our server. We sent the boys around to sort them out, and now things seem to be running much better ;)

Today we've launched the 3rd in our monthly competitions. This month is a little special though, as Bug celebrates its forthcoming 1st Birthday.
We've joined forces with Hi-Velocity> & Zyxel to offer one lucky winner a 1Mbit ADSL service for a whole year, and a Zyxel P653HWi - a router that some have called "amazing".
Finally, as a little bonus, the prize will be handed over at one of Londons top nosh resturants, the OxO Tower !
Entry form is here, and the competition closed at 10am sharp on the 17th September 2004.
