Hi-Velocity

Hi-Velocity have announced an SDSL promotion offering free installation and a free, quality, Zyxel P792H SDSL router - saving £700. The service is available on over 400 exchanges nationwide.

Speed Contention Cost
1Mbps 1:1 £239 per month
2Mbps 1:1 £319 per month
<font size=1>Prices exclude VAT. 12 month contract.

Whilst certainly not priced for the home consumer who likes to download their mp3s, SDSL makes perfect sense for businesses currently using a leased line and fancies saving thousands of pounds, whilst retaining the high level of service guarantee that SDSL affords - in Hi-Velocity's case, a staggering 99.85%.

Hi-Velocity

Hi-Velocity have released details of it's new product range which includes for the first time a capped service.

While most ISP's have opted for a very low data usage cap with additional data transfer being needed most months, HV have gone for a whopping 50GB before capping comes into effect. Only download data is measured and users can check their usage on the data meter which goes live next week.

Current uncapped connections will continue to remain unchanged, with another new range of 'light' connections being announced shortly.

"Hi-Velocity are pleased to announce the introduction of the capped products as part of our goal to maintain our position as excellent value for money provider in the Industry"
Anthony Bennett, Sales Director at Hi-Velocity

The new products will be available to be ordered from April 26th, with first delivery commencing on May 4th.

For those who want to take part, the pricing is £38.99 per month (inc VAT), and also includes, 100MB Webspace, and 5 e-mail accounts.
The good news is that it will be an unmetered connection, with no download limits.

Standard activation or migration charges still apply for the trial.

Hi-Velocity

Hi-Velocity have launched TalkBand, a VoIP service that the ISP hopes will offer customers an alternative payment option to those who simply want to pay for their phone calls, without coughing up monthly subscription fees. Talkband offers calls to UK landlines charged at 1.2p per minute.

The service also claims to improve voice quality to landlines via conversion to PSTN at the Hi-Velocity network level. Similarly, calls to other Hi-Velocity VoIP users do not leave the ISPs network, ensuring that latency (delay) is kept to an absolute minimum.

Looking for some nifty hardware to use with VoIP? Hi-Velocity have two special offers running at the moment, offering an award winning Grandstream Budgetone 102 for £50 (excl VAT & Delivery), or a <a href="http://www.zyxel.com/product/P2000W.php" target=BLANL>Zyxel P2000W for £140 (excl VAT & Delivery)

Hi-Velocity

What options are available to you if you need an ADSL downstream faster than 2Mbit ? Or maybe an upstream of upto 1Mbit is your craving ?

Not having anything to do with Her Majesties civil servant, Bonding ADSL employs a technique that effectively merges 2 3 or even 4 standard ADSL lines, increasing not only downstream speeds, but upstream as well. Currently, solutions permit 4 ADSL lines upto 2Mbit each, giving a potential 8Mbit downstream with a 1Mbit upstream as well.

The cost realisation for business is clear compared with similar speed solutions like leased lines, plus there's also the added benefit of resilience, should a line or two fail for some reason. Unfortunately, only a small number of ISPs can help out with this solution, the latest being Hi-Velocity, offering a UK first of 99.9% uptime availability to boot too !

"The DSL market in the UK is still an area that businesses are reluctant to rely on for their mission critical connectivity. Our new solution which is a first in the UK allows us to put a 99.9% connectivity up time guarantee on a DSL product.

Furthermore by bonding lines in this manner you can now achieve upstream speeds of 1Mbps and downloads of up to 8Mbps. The solution is extremely attractive to companies on the fringe of DSL availability who need more bandwidth and also companies looking to replace leased lines. We have the ability now to scale the solution even further with a three carrier solution due for launch in August of this year and are always looking at the right opportunities to increase this further."
